Keeping in mind the slogan of “Sebai Dharma”, on 1 January 1989, the local youth community initiated the establishment of the non-governmental development organization “Dumaus” to educate and develop 100% of the people and involve the rural poor in income-generating activities. Since the inception of the organization, various types of social activities are being conducted for the development of the neglected, deprived and poor people.

With the aim of socio-economic development of rural villages, income-generating activities are being implemented among the rural poor people on 04/10/2015, subject to the permission of the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA). For example, small business, fish farming, poultry farming, cattle farming, agricultural work, purchase of rickshaws and vans, and project-based loan assistance is provided for cottage industry businesses. So that the people living in rural areas are given the opportunity to be involved in income-generating activities.

Housing houses are built among the rural poor homeless people with the help of Bangladesh Bank’s Housing Fund. Training programs are implemented with the help of CDD to include the disabled people in the mainstream. Basic literacy programs are implemented with the funding of the Non-Formal Education Bureau. Maternity allowance programs have been implemented with the funding of the Department of Women’s Affairs. As part of income-generating activities, the fish farming project is successfully running with the aim of creating entrepreneurs among the local youth community. Health, education, maternity, child and population programs have been implemented with the funding of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presented the National Youth Award in 2010 for the successful implementation of the organization’s activities. In addition, this organization has received numerous awards at the upazila, district and national levels. This organization has a good reputation in Jhalokati, Barisal, Pe Rajpur and Patuakhali districts.

“সেবাই ধর্ম” এই শ্লোগানকে সামনে রেখে ১৯৮৯ খ্রিঃ ১ জানুযারী স্থানীয় যুব সম্প্রদায়ের উদ্যোগে শতভাগ মানুষকে শিক্ষিত করে গড়ে তোলার, গ্রামীণ হতদরিদ্র জনগোষ্ঠিকে আয়বর্ধক কর্মকান্ডে সর্ম্পক্ত করা জন্য বেসরকারী উন্নয়ন সংস্থা “দুমাউস” প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হয়। প্রতিষ্ঠান শুরু থেকেই অবহেলিত, সুবিধা বঞ্চিত, হতদরিদ্র জনগোষ্ঠির উন্নয়নে বিভিন্ন ধরনের সামাজিক কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করা হচ্ছে।

গ্রামীণ জনপদের আর্থ-সামাজিক উন্নয়নের লক্ষ্যে মাইক্রোক্রেডিট রেগুলেটরি অথরিটি (এমআরএ) কর্তৃক অনুমতি প্রাপ্তি সাপেক্ষে০৪/১০/২০১৫ খ্রিঃ হতদরিদ্র গ্রামীণ জনগোষ্ঠির মাঝে আয়বর্ধক কার্যক্রম বাস্তবায়ণ করা হচ্ছে। যেমন ঃ ক্ষুদ্র ব্যবসা, মৎস্য চাষ, হাসঁ-মুরগী পালন, গবাদী পশু পালন, কৃষি কাজ, রিক্সা-ভ্যান ক্রয়, কুটি শিল্প ব্যবসার জন্য প্রকল্প ভিত্তিক ঋণ সহায়তা প্রদান করা হয়। যাতে গ্রামীণ জনপদে বসবাসকারী জনগোষ্ঠি আয়বর্ধক কর্মকান্ডে সম্পৃক্ত হওয়ার সুযোগ সৃষ্টি হয়।

বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংকের গৃহায়ণ তহবিলের অর্থ দ্বারা গ্রামীণ হতদরিদ্র গৃহহীন জনগোষ্ঠির মাঝে বসত গৃহ তৈরী করে দেয়া হয়। সিডিডি এর সহযোগিতায় প্রতিবন্ধী জনগোষ্ঠিকে মুল স্রোতধারায় সম্পৃক্ত করতে প্রশিক্ষণ কার্যক্রম বাস্তবায়ণ করা হয়। উপানুষ্ঠানিক শিক্ষা ব্যুরোর অর্থায়নে মৌলিক সাক্ষরতা কার্যক্রম বাস্তবায়িত হয়। মহিলা বিষয়ক অধিদপ্তরের আর্থায়নে মাতৃত্বকাল ভাতা কার্যক্রম বাস্তবায়িত হয়েছে। স্থানীয় যুব সম্প্রদায়কে উদ্যোক্তা সৃষ্টির লক্ষ্যে আয়বর্ধক কর্মকান্ডের অংশ হিসেবে মৎস্য চাষ প্রকল্প সফলতার সাথে চলমান রয়েছে। স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ মন্ত্রনালয়ের অর্থায়নে স্বাস্থ্য, শিক্ষা, মাতৃত্ব শিশু ও জনসংখ্যা কার্যক্রম বাস্তবায়িত হয়েছে।

প্রতিষ্ঠানের কার্যক্রম সফল ভাবে বাস্তবায়িত হওয়ার জন্য মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা ২০১০ সালে জাতীয় যুব পুরুস্কার প্রদান করেন। এছাড়া, উপজেলা, জেলা ও জাতীয় পর্যায়ে অত্র প্রতিষ্ঠান অসংখ্য পুরুস্কার পেয়েছে। ঝালকাঠি, বরিশাল, পিে রাজপুর ও পটুয়াখালী জেলায় অত্র প্রতিষ্ঠানের বেশ সুনাম রয়েছে।
