Assalamu Alaikum. Keeping in mind the slogan of “Sebai Dharma”, the non-governmental development organization “Duhastha Manav Unnayan Society (DMUS)” is working to improve the fate of the poor Bengali community and keep the country’s economic wheel moving, by implementing income-generating activities, educational activities, expansion of modern agricultural systems, environmental conservation, health and reproduction of adolescents, development of health and sanitation systems, and creating safe shelters for homeless and marginalized communities.

Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) registration is being accepted for the socio-economic development of rural towns in the coastal region and income-generating activities are being implemented among the targeted community. For example: Project-based loan assistance is provided for small businesses, fisheries, poultry farming, cattle farming, agricultural work, purchase of rickshaws and vans, and cottage industry businesses. So that the people living in rural areas can get involved in income-generating activities.
In this work, domestic and foreign donors or cooperating organizations have extended their helping hands. I personally express my gratitude to the donors and development partners working in the cooperating organizations.

Birth:
A permanent citizen of Bangladesh by birth. She was born on July 25, 1977 in a wealthy Muslim family in Paota village, Nalchiti upazila, Jhalakathi district. She is the 6th child of her father, late Md. Zahir Uddin Howlader and mother, late Amena Begum.

Educational life:
Her educational life began in childhood with her father and mother. She was taught by her maktab teacher Aleya Begum alias Alo. First school. Life First educational institution Bagerhat Nager Bazar Government Primary School for first grade. Bagerhat Amlapara Government Primary School for second and third grade. Due to her elder brother Sonali’s job in the bank, she had the opportunity to study and write in Bagerhat district headquarters for three consecutive years. Paota Government Primary School from fourth to fifth grade. Paota Secondary School for sixth grade. Nalchiti Merchants Secondary School from 7th to SSC. Although he studied at Nalchiti Degree College in the 11th grade, he later migrated and passed HSC from Nangalkot College. He obtained type-shorthand education from Limon Commercial College founded by his elder brother. He did BBA and MBA from Patuakhali Abdul Karim Mridha College. He obtained LLB degree in law from Patuakhali “Law” College.

Career:
HM Akhtaruzzaman’s career began in 1992 AD through journalism. His mentor in the field of journalism was the then senior journalist and writer of Nalchiti Upazila, A. Mannan Farooqui. In his spare time from writing and studying, he used to teach type-shorthand to the students of his elder brother So. Altaf Hossain’s business institution “Limon Commercial College”. Later in 1993, he started professional journalism through journalism in Khulna Daily Jammbhumi. In addition to journalism, he worked as a blacksmith typist at Khulna Dakbangla intersection under the umbrella of Khulna Metropolitan Professional Typist Association. After staying in Khulna for a long time, he returned to Nalchit in 1998 and started contracting business along with local journalism for Daily Ittefaq. In addition to contracting business, he was appointed as a dealer for the food program for education in Kushangal Union. Due to the political change in 2001, the dealership business was closed. Later, he took over as the executive head of the non-governmental development organization “Duhastha Manav Unnayan Society (Dumaus)” for the socio-economic development of the helpless and poor people of the area. Through Dumas, he plays an important role in the socio-economic development of the poor people of the coastal villages of Bangladesh.

Marital life:
HM Akhtaruzzaman is married and has two children. His wife, Lovely Akhter, is a senior teacher at Delduar Girls’ Secondary School. His eldest child is HM Tanvir Ahmed and his youngest child is Zeba Zaman Nijhum.

Social position:
In addition to being the executive director of the non-governmental development organization “Duhastha Manav Unnayan Society” (Dumaus), HM Akhtaruzzaman has also contributed a lot to social service. To solve the unemployment problem of the local youth community, a cooperative-based organization “Dakshin Paota Youth and Youth Women’s Cooperative Society Ltd” was established. To spread the light of knowledge among the people, “Dumaus Cultural Center and Library” were established. In addition to social organizations, important responsibilities have been performed in various educational institutions. From 2007 to 2024, he served as the general treasurer of the Nalchiti Press Club. From 2008, he was the president of the Management Committee (UCCA) of the Nalchiti Upazila Central Cooperative Society Ltd. under the BRDB, run by the Cooperative Department of the Ministry of Local Government. From 2008 to 2016, he was the president of the Managing Committee of Delduar Girls’ Secondary School. From 2016 to 2024, he was the president of the Managing Committee of Kulkathi Shahidiya Bahumukhi Dakhil Madrasa. From 2020 to 2024, he was the president of the Managing Committee of Harikhali Darul Ulum Fazil Madrasa. President of the Managing Committee of Panchagram Adarsh ​​Secondary School from 2012 to 2020. Served as the President of Paota Secondary School from 2022 to 2024. President of the South Paota Jame Masjid Committee from 2007. President of Kulkathi Union Central Eid Group from 2012. In addition, he has been serving as the Chairman of Kulkathi Union Parishad since 2011.

উপকূলীয় অঞ্চলের গ্রামীণ জনপদের আর্থ-সামাজিক উন্নয়নের লক্ষ্যে মাইক্রোক্রেডিট রেগুলেটরি অথরিটি (এমআরএ) নিবন্ধন গ্রহণ করে লক্ষিত জনগোষ্ঠির মাঝে আয়বর্ধক কার্যক্রম বাস্তবায়ণ করা হচ্ছে। যেমন ঃ ক্ষুদ্র ব্যবসা, মৎস্য চাষ, হাসঁ-মুরগী পালন, গবাদী পশু পালন, কৃষি কাজ, রিক্সা-ভ্যান ক্রয়, কুটি শিল্প ব্যবসার জন্য প্রকল্প ভিত্তিক ঋণ সহায়তা প্রদান করা হয়। যাতে গ্রামীণ জনপদে বসবাসকারী জনগোষ্ঠি আয়বর্ধক কর্মকান্ডে সম্পৃক্ত হওয়ার সুযোগ সৃষ্টি হয়।
এ কাজে দেশি ও বিশেদী দাতা বা সহযোগি প্রতিষ্ঠান সমুহ সহায্যের হাত বাড়িয়ে দিয়েছে। আমি ব্যক্তিগত ভাবে কৃতজ্ঞতা জানাই দাতা এবং সহযোগী প্রতিষ্ঠানে কর্মরত উন্নয়ন সহযোগীবৃন্দের কাছে।

জম্মঃ
বাংলাদেশের জম্মসূত্রে স্থায়ী নাগরকি। সে ঝালকাঠি জেলার নলছিটি উপজেলার পাওতা গ্রামের সম্রান্ত মুসলিম পরিবারে ১৯৭৭ সালের ২৫ জুলাই জম্ম গ্রহণ করেন। পিতা মরহুম মোঃ জহির উদ্দিন হাওলাদার এবং মাতা মরহুমা আমেনা বেগম এর ৬ষ্ঠ সন্তান।

শিক্ষা জীবনঃ
পিতা ও মাতার কাছেই শৈশবে শিক্ষা জীবন শুরু হয়। হাতে খড়ি দেন পড়ার মক্তব শিক্ষিকা আলেয়া বেগম ওরফে আলো। প্রথম স্কুল। জীবন প্রথম শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান বাগেরহাট নাগের বাজার সরকারী প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় প্রথম শ্রেনী। দ্বিতীয় এবং তৃতীয় শ্রেনীতে বাগেরহাট আমলাপাড়া সরকারী প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়। বড় ভাই সোনালী ব্যাংকে চাকুরীর সুবাদে বাগেরহাট জেলা সদরে টানা তিন বছর লেখা-পড়ার সুযোগ হয়েছে। চর্তুথ থেকে পঞ্চম শ্রেনী পর্যন্ত পাওতা সরকারি প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়। ৬ষ্ঠ শ্রেনীতে পাওতা মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়। ৭ম থেকে এসএসসি পর্যন্ত নলছিটি মাচেন্টস মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়। একাদশ শ্রেনীতে নলছিটি ডিগ্রী কলেজ অধ্যায়ন করা হলেও পরবর্তীতে মাইগ্রেশন করে নাঙ্গলকোট কলেজ থেকে এইচএসসি পাশ করা হয়। বড়ভাইয়ের প্রতিষ্ঠিত লিমন কমার্শিয়াল কলেজ থেকে টাইপ-শর্টহ্যান্ড শিক্ষা অর্জন করেন। পটুয়াখালী আবদুল করিম মৃধা কলেজ থেকে বিবিএ এবং এমবিএ করা হয়। আইন শাস্ত্রে পটুয়াখালী “ল” কলেজ থেকে এলএলবি ডিগ্রী অর্জন করা হয়।

কর্মময় জীবনঃ
এইচএম আখতারুজ্জামান কর্ম জীবন শুরু হয়েছিল ১৯৯২ খ্রিঃ সাংবাদিকতার মাধ্যমে। তার সাংবাদিকতা অঙ্গনের ওস্তাদ ছিলেন নলছিটি উপজেলার তৎকালীন প্রবীণ সাংবাদিক ও সাহিত্যিক আঃ মান্নান ফারুক্কী। লেখা-পড়ার অবসরে বড় ভাই সোঃ আলতাফ হোসেন এর ব্যবসা প্রতিষ্ঠান “লিমন কর্মাশিয়াল কলেজ” এর ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের টাইপ-শর্টহ্যান্ড শিক্ষা দিতেন। পরবর্তীতে ১৯৯৩ সালে খুলনা দৈনিক জম্মভূমি পত্রিকায় সাংবাদিকতার মধ্যদিয়ে পেশাদার সাংবাদিকতা শুরু করা হয়। সাংবাদিকতার পাশাপাশি খুলনা মহানগর পেশাজীবি টাইপিষ্ট সমিতি ছত্রছায়ায় খুলনা ডাকবাংলা মোড়ে খন্ডকালী টাইপিষ্ট হিসেবে কাজ করতেন। দীর্ঘদিন খুলনায় অবস্থান করার পরবর্তীতে ১৯৯৮ সালে নলছিটি শহরে প্রত্যাবর্তন করে দৈনিক ইত্তেফাক পত্রিকার স্থানীয় সাংবাদিকতার পাশাপাশি ঠিকাদারী ব্যবসা শুরু করে। ঠিকাদারী ব্যবসার পাশাপাশি কুশঙ্গল ইউনিয়নে শিক্ষার জন্য খাদ্য কর্মসূচীর ডিলার নিয়োগ প্রাপ্ত হন। ২০০১ সালের রাজনৈতিক পট পরির্তনের কারনে ডিলারী ব্যবসা বন্ধ হয়ে যায়। পরবর্তীতে এলাকার অসহায় হতদরিদ্র মানুষের আর্থ-সামাজিক উন্নয়নে বেসরকারী উন্নয়ন সংস্থা “দুঃস্থ মানব উন্নয়ন সোসাইটি (দুমাউস) এর নির্বাহী প্রধান হিসেবে দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করেন। দুমাউস এর মাধ্যমে বাংলাদেশের উপকূলীয় জনপদের হতদরিদ্র জনগোষ্ঠির আর্থ-সামাজিক উন্নয়নে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রয়েছে।

বৈবাহিক (দাম্পত্য) জীবনঃ
এইচএম আখতারুজ্জামান বিবাহিত এবং দুই সন্তানের জনক। স্ত্রী লাভলী আক্তার দেলদুয়ার বালিকা মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের সিনিয়র শিক্ষিকা। বড় সন্তান এইচএম তানভীর আহমেদ এবং কনিষ্ঠ সন্তান জেবা জামান নিঝুম।

সামাজিক অবস্থানঃ
এইচএম আখতারুজ্জামান বেসরকারী উন্নয়ন সংস্থা “দুঃস্থ মানব উন্নয়ন সোসাইটি’র (দুমাউস) নির্বাহী পরিচালক ছাড়াও সমাজ সেবায় বেশ অবদান রয়েছে। স্থানীয় যুব সম্প্রদায়ের বেকার সমস্যা নিরসনের জন্য সমবায় ভিত্তিক প্রতিষ্ঠান “দক্ষিণ পাওতা যুব ও যুব মহিলা সমবায় সমিতি লিঃ প্রতিষ্ঠান করে। মানুষের মধ্যে জ্ঞানের আলো ছড়িয়ে দিতে “দুমাউস সাংস্কৃতি কেন্দ্র ও পাঠাগার প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হয়। সামাজিক সংগঠনের পাশাপাশি বিভিন্ন শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দায়িত্ব পালন করা হয়েছে। ২০০৭ খ্রিঃ থেকে ২০২৪ খ্রিঃ পর্যন্ত নলছিটি প্রেসক্লাবের সাধারন সম্পদক হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেন। ২০০৮ খ্রিঃ থেকে স্থানীয় সরকার মন্ত্রনালয়ের সমবায় বিভাগ পরিচালিত বিআরডিবি’র আওতাধীন নলছিটি উপজেলা কেন্দ্রীয় সমবায় সমিতি লিঃ এর ব্যবস্থাপনা কমিটি (ইউসিসিএ) সভাপতি। ২০০৮ খ্রিঃ থেকে ২০১৬ খ্রিঃ দেলদুয়ার বালিকা মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের ম্যানেজিং কমিটির সভাপতি। ২০১৬ খ্রিঃ থেকে ২০২৪ খ্রিঃ পর্যন্ত কুলকাঠি শহীদিয়া বহুমুখী দাখিল মাদরাসার ম্যানেজিং কমিটির সভাপতি। ২০২০ খ্রিঃ থেকে ২০২৪ খ্রিঃ পর্যন্ত হাড়িখালী দারুল উলুম ফাজিল মাদরাসা ম্যানেজিং কমিটির সভাপতি। ২০১২ খ্রিঃ থেকে ২০২০ খ্রিঃ পর্যন্ত পঞ্চগ্রাম আদর্শ মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের ম্যানেজিং কমিটির সভাপতি। ২০২২ খ্রিঃ থেকে ২০২৪ খ্রিঃ পর্যন্ত পাওতা মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের সভাপতি হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেছেন। ২০০৭ খ্রিঃ থেকে দক্ষিন পাওতা জামে মসজিদ কমিটির সভাপতি। ২০১২ খ্রীঃ থেকে কুলকাঠি ইউনিয়ন কেন্দ্রীয় ঈদ গায়ের সভাপতি। এছাড়া, ২০১১ খ্রিঃ থেকে কুলকাঠি ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ চেয়ারম্যান হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করছেন।

বিদেশ ভ্রমণঃ
এইচএম আখতারুজ্জামান সামাজিক অবস্থান, কর্মদক্ষতার কারনে অসংখ্য পুরুস্কার পেয়েছেন এবং রাষ্ট্রী অতিথি হিসেবে ভারত, শ্রীলংকা, থ্যাইল্যান্ড, মালয়েশিয়া, নেপাল, ইন্দোনেশিয়া, ফ্রান্স সফর করার সৌভাগ্য হয়েছে।

অর্জন/ স্বীকৃতিঃ
এইচএম আখতারুজ্জামান সামাজিক অবস্থান এবং দক্ষতার কারনে অসংখ্য পুরুস্কার পেয়েছেন। ২০১১ খ্রিঃ মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী কর্তৃক জাতীয় যুব পুরুস্কার। ২০১২ খ্রিঃ ভারতের পশ্চিম বঙ্গ সরকার ইয়ুথ ফ্যাস্টিভেল-২০১২ খ্রিঃ পুরুস্কার প্রদান করেন। ২০১৬ খ্রিঃ মাদার তেরেসা পুরুস্কার লাভ করে। ২০১৮ খ্রিঃ শের-্ট-িবাংলা পদক।
